Today I'm starting a series of random images that are really only tied together by the fact that I like them. They are well outside of my "normal" range - no wildlife or landscapes - mostly just colors and shapes. This is new territory for me so it's a little scary, but also fun. I'd love feedback on these - How can I make them better? Are they interesting to anyone else or am I way off base with these?

I have been totally overwhelmed again lately. Sorry I've been so lousy about commenting on your photos. I do visit every time I have a few free minutes. I hope you all are well and I hope to "see" you more soon.

oh Willow photos like these are like my all-time-favourite types of photos. I honestly think you have done a great job with this one - you noticed the variety of patterns and textures, as well as the great colour comparisons in the subject matter and you assessed their potential well in being able to create a very cool image. I like the way that you included the red on the right side to not only add some more great colour and texture but also to give us a tease about what lies out of the frame and to what context this subject belongs - to effect intrigue in our minds - i.e. the wonderful characteristic that these types of images hold - well to me at least! it is a great image willow - well done!! gold star for you! and good on you for trying something knew - it works for you it seems! i look forward to seeing the next...

Great and various patterns and textures here... crop is perfect... could have been more contrasted to reveal the wall of bricks, to my opinion, of course ! :)

Hello. I have a problem with trying new things myself. I spent the afternoon today taking pictures of abnormal things. I can't wait to see what I captured.

This is a interesting piece. I love old and eclectic pieces. Good image. Good luck on going beyond your limits.

That is such a neat old whatever-it-is. I like your shot and the composition. Don't know what direction this is facing, but maybe if you had taken it either earlier or later you might have had a little better quality of light. Then this image would absolutely sing.

Not off base at all.....sometimes it's tons of fun to move out of your own "box". You've gotten a wonderful shot here.... light, shadows, composition, color.... the whole thing just works!!!

I like to do random shots occasionally - and like you I often don't really know why I like them. This one I do like. I think it is the strong elements in the composition - the circle of the bell (or whatever it is ) is central to the photo and it is offset by the red wood on the right and the crumbling mortar line on the left. Also the brick pattern is nice - a lot going on in this pic :)

Can't really add much to what everyone has said - there's so much going on here in what at first glance seems quite a simple image. Well done. On making them better, I might have played a little with the curves to see if any more texture could have been extracted from the brickwork (but then again that might have spoilt it - worth a try, anyway).

well as far as I'm concerned, this is definitely of interest to me. Very appealing. Well composed and excellentl y exposed. The detail and textures in this, not to mention the positive tension provided by that perfectly round shape against the graphic of the brick, are all so appealing. I look forward to more of your favourites.

Great experimentation! I like the detail and the graphically pleasing focus on shapes. If you were going to push this, I might be interested in seeing what the photo would look like with more space to the left and the top. In other words, you could try decentering the bell even more than it is.
