Jerome

On the second day of our trip the weather took a cold and rainy turn so we decided to take a day trip to nearby Jerome, Arizona. Jerome is an old mining town turned ghost town and now turned eclectic little artist community. I had never been there before and wasn't quite sure what to expect. But we weren't quite feeling up to hiking in the rain just yet so why not go? I'm so glad we went and can't wait to go back. Our day in Jerome wound up to be one of my favorites of the trip. I'll try to show you why over the next few days.

This photo is also another one of my recent processing experiments. I have done very little B&W (or sepia in this case) because I've never really cared for any of my attempts at it. This one turned out OK, though. Maybe I'm finally getting the hang of it? This shot was taken from the Douglas Mansion (now a state park) which is directly across a valley from the town of Jerome. Things to note - in the upper far left the big building you see is the old hospital that has been turned into a hotel and restaurant, the big "J" painted up on Cleopatra Hill, and, on the far right is one of the mines.

Thank you for visiting and commenting and sharing your photos! I love this site and all the people that make it so great. Photography is my passion and this is the perfect place for sharing that passion with other people who feel the same way.

Don't forget Silly Tuesday!!!! For more info see Liner's blog.
